Il tour fa parte di uno scambio culturale promosso da un TO australiano Un pittore aborigeno alla scoperta della Sicilia
Billy Doolan non è un turista qualsiasi. È un artista aborigeno australiano che ad agosto ha girato la Sicilia in lungo e largo. Ora le emozioni di questo viaggio le dovrà trasferire in dieci dipinti e quindi alla sua comunità, considerato che è anche capo clan, attraverso la pittura, la musica e la danza. L’idea di questo speciale tour, che è anche scambio culturale, è di Maria Sanciolo Bell di Melbourne, titolare di Echoesevents.com, operatore turistico australiano che, oltre ad organizzare viaggi in Sicilia, promuove eventi e ponti culturali tra l’Isola e l’Australia. Nel caso specifico, Bell ha coinvolto il governo del Queensland, che ha finanziato il progetto “Spirit of 2 Islands: Terra Australis - Terra Sicula”, che prevede, oltre al tour in Sicilia di Doolan, anche la partecipazione di artisti aborigeni alla Sagra del Mandorlo in Fiore 2010, la visita di artisti siciliani presso comunità aborigene del Nord Queensland e Palm Island e tra il 2010 e il 2011 una mostra d’arte aborigena, da presentare in Italia e in altri Paesi europei.
